The Windig Collection comprises an estimated several hundred thousand images, including approximately 6,000 glass negatives, with the remainder in film negatives and (slide) positives. It represents a blend of family archives, sub‑collections of various sizes, individual acquisitions and is regularly enriched with new, compelling material.

While the majority of photographs were taken by amateur photographers, the collection contains many images of exceptional quality.
Noteworthy amateurs whose work rivals that of professional photographers include Maarten Hooijberg, Paul van der Laaken, Jacob van der Veer and John Rijnders.

Together, these images form a rich and versatile resource, perfect for research, publication or creative inspiration.
To give you a sense of the collection’s breadth, we present here several mini‑exhibitions featuring selected highlights.
